The same wound, yes - and the bottle is freedom’s cheapest disguise: it offers the widest door and delivers the smallest room. Perhaps that is why shared pain so seldom becomes shared values - most of us mistake the exit that asks nothing of us for the one that actually sets us free.
What stayed with me is that this isn't really about politics. It's about the different shapes freedom can take after the same wound.
People can escape the same oppression and still build completely different worlds from it. Shared pain doesn't always produce shared values.
A thoughtful reflection.
Hello Adrien,
The same wound, yes - and the bottle is freedom’s cheapest disguise: it offers the widest door and delivers the smallest room. Perhaps that is why shared pain so seldom becomes shared values - most of us mistake the exit that asks nothing of us for the one that actually sets us free.
With gratitude, Dominic
